Tasting Notes
Rich, juicy berry and cassis, with a fruity, spicy finish. It’s tasty with tri-tip steak, sausages, baby-back ribs, hamburgers or any food fit for the Barbie.
Vineyard Information
This Australian Shiraz has grapes from the famed "Nanya" vineyard based in the Murray Valley (Riverland) of South Australia, 150 miles northeast of Adelaide, as well as from other select growers in the region. Around 25% of the blend is from the cooler climate areas of South Australia, producing a complex range of flavours in the wine. Soils are predominantly red sandy loam over limestone, on gently undulating east west ridges.
Winemaking
The grapes for this wine were picked at night to make sure that they were as cool as possible. The grapes were then allowed to macerate for 2 days before inoculation and fermentation. A range of fermentation techniques were used to extract the desired colour and structure. Pressed off skins 7 days later, the wine was then allowed to go through the second malolactic fermentation. Approximately 15% of the blend also spent some time in barrel to contribute complexity and supple structure.
